AI doesn't fix operational chaos, it just speeds it up. Same rule applies here, just pointed at product instead of sales. Hand a machine to a business that doesn't know its own constraints and you don't get leverage, you get the same mess moving faster.

The four decisions part is the real meat. I've sat across the table from founders who wanted to "automate the proposal process" and couldn't tell me what the proposal was supposed to protect. Price, promise, who signs off, that's judgment, not workflow. No agent makes that call for you.

Good piece. The owner as product manager thing isn't new. It's just the first time the tools caught up to what good owners were already doing in their heads.

Separating preparation from judgment before automating anything prevents so many bad builds.
